Beach Elopement Inspiration 2015 | Saskatchewan Lakes

This fantastic beach elopement inspiration session was recently featured on the Canadian wedding blog Champagne Sweets!

I was so excited when Mandy asked if I would be interested in designing a summer inspiration shoot. I decided to use a turquoise-blue color palette. I chose a covering that reflected a “mermaid tail.” A wood table top was set with nautical accent pieces. For the centrepiece I chose an old lantern with aged seashell pieces. I approached Backwoods Design Co. to create a nautical menu that would match the décor. We kept the entire design simple, with only a few on the creative team. The location was absolutely perfect and we managed to catch the sunset!

Summer Inspiration Shoot 2014 | Rural Saskatchewan

My inspiration all started with the dress. The dress was my mom’s from 1969 and is truly timeless. I really wanted to honour the gown by complimenting it with my theme. The theme I chose to showcase was rustic, vintage elegance.

I wanted the model to showcase a natural, vintage look, which is why we decided to have her hair down, and swapped out a traditional veil for a floral headpiece.

Since it's a summer shoot I decided to go with colours that would really catch the eye and were bright and cheerful. The mint and coral pink really stood out and paired well together. These colors are very popular this season. For elegance, I accented these colours with gold. I brought the gold through with charger plates, napkin rings, cutlery and mini cake stands.

For textiles, I chose a coral pink polyester tablecloth with a beige linen overlay. For a tabletop I decided to use authentic barn board with a burlap and lace table runner tied with twine at the end. For scatter pieces on the table I utilized vintage buttons and pearls.

My philosophy for planning our wedding was to try to do a lot of things ourselves, but also hire talented people who could help make our day run smoothly and stress-free. We are so happy we hired Brittany to decorate our wedding reception at the Gallagher Centre. She met with us on several occasions to discuss different decorating options, gave me some awesome ideas for table décor, and answered countless emails! I was so impressed with Brittany’s “eye for style”, her hard work ethic, and her incredible organizational skills. The Friday before our wedding was very relaxed and easy because of Brittany’s ability to take care of everything!  Brittany, thank you for transforming the Gallagher Centre into the wedding reception of our dreams. The reception space was absolutely beautiful, all thanks to you!

I know when you say wedding planner, most people think, a) too expensive, b) our wedding isn't elaborate c) I can do it on my own. Our wedding was simple, as inexpensive as possible and we couldn't have done it without Circle the Date.

It was such a relief being able to discuss what we wanted and then have them make it happen. Everything from finding the right colour of decorations and linens to making the invitations and dealing with our caterer, they did it all. The days leading up to the wedding and the day of, was when it was crystal clear how essential a wedding planner is.

Everything was decorated to perfection without any worrying on our part.  Circle the Date headed off problems, made sure everyone knew where they had to be, and was there on time. Our wedding day was everything we had envisioned with their help.  No detail was overlooked. Having a wedding planner eliminates any stress put on the bride, groom and their families.  You should be able to enjoy your day, your moment, without having to delegate, plan and/or worry.

Circle the Date made that possible for us.
